Connecticut College is conducting a regional search for Dining Service Aides to work in our busy Dining Services Department.  The dining service aide will execute daily preparation, productions and presentation of food and beverage items as required while ensuring all safety and food handling standards are maintained.  This is a full time, (40 hours/week), academic year (40 week) position and is benefits eligble.  Position pays $16.87/hour and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

  • Prep and setup stations for service; this includes, but is not limited to: interactive stations, steam tables, cold and hot holding units in accordance with food safety regulations.
  • Ensure all appropriate food and menu items are labeled appropriately and accurately. Which is critical to ensure the safety of those guests with food allergies.
  • Adheres to department, state and federal food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures and requirements; maintains appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all food items. 
  • Prepare and serve appropriate quantities of food in a timely manner, assuring proper quality and quantity of food and beverages and supplies.
  • Assemble items to be served at designated food service area locations; prepare food for transport across campus or to other District locations, maintaining appropriate records as assigned.
  • Prepare food service stations for the serving of food
  • Cashier Responsibilities: Act as the ambassador of dining services, warmly and professionally greeting all members of the college community. Ensure Proper payment is received upon customer entry to the dining hall, including checking student ID cards; complete and maintain daily records. 
  • Maintain work areas and serving areas in a clean, sanitary and safe condition; wash and clean counters and steam tables and all food and beverage service platforms. This includes, but is not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing all table & sweeping all floors.
  • Operate a variety of standard kitchen equipment such as a cash register, slicer, food processor, continuous feed food processor, grater, mixer, wrapping/sealing machine, dishwasher, steam table, steamer and ovens as required.
  • Train new food service employees and student workers as assigned.
  • Ability to converse, read and write in English.
  • Servsafe or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Stamina, good physical condition, manual dexterity for high volume work, flexible and dependable. 
  • Ability to operate a cash register and demonstrate basic math skills.
  • Must pay close attention to food presentation, appeal and flavor to insure customer satisfaction.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills with a variety of people from all aspects of the college and community.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Must have basic knife skills.
  • Ability to operate all Kitchen/cooking equipment.
  • Well-organized, able to work under pressure, plan and accomplish goals.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Thorough applicant credentialing, including criminal records check, pre-placement physical, will be conducted on the selected candidate.
