Connecticut College is conducting a regional search for a Cook to assist the First Cook, Lead Cook or Chef Manager in food production of all meals. This position is benefits eligible and pays $19.06/hour.

  • Assist in daily food production and preparation of daily menu items while following menus and recipes accurately. Supplies steam table with food during serving time
  • Working at interactive stations, you will be responsible for taking & executing multiple food orders from customers simultaneously and efficiently. You will be required to do this while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
  • Clean work area and equipment
  • Prepare batch cooking with mindfulness of food production quantities to reduce waste and use of food surpluses
  • Use proper inventory controls as they relate to FoodPro including completing service records
  • Responsible for receiving and putting away deliveries.
  • Alert management to any equipment, maintenance or safety concerns in a timely fashion. 
  • Act as a driver if in possession of a valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Maintain personal hygiene and appearance, daily wearing of uniforms.
  • Adheres to department, state and federal food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures and requirements; maintains appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all food items. 
  • High school diploma or GED and 2 to 3 years of high volume cooking experience required.  Formal post high school training in the culinary arts preferred.
  • Servsafe or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Stamina, good physical condition, manual dexterity for high volume work, flexible and dependable. 
  • Ability to read, interpret menu and recipes and prepare food items as directed.
  • Must pay close attention to food presentation, appeal and flavor to insure customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to interact well with a variety of people from all aspects of the college and community.
  • Ability to operate all Kitchen/cooking equipment.
  • Well-organized, able to work under pressure, plan and accomplish goals.
  • Must have own knives (French, serrated knife and a paring knife).

Applicant credentialing will be conducted on the selected candidate, including criminal background check and pre-placement physical.

Connecticut College requires employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
