Connecticut College is conducting a regional search for an HR professional with strong analytic skills.  Using data integrity and enterprise systems expertise, our HR Specialist will administer, interpret, monitor, research and maintain accurate records in the College’s enterprise human resources information system (HRIS) to include: position control/management, job records, position classification, student employment, benefit and leave set up, and payroll timelines for proper data entry.  The specialist will also be responsible for creating reports and analyzing data, recommending any changes in processes to improve automation and efficiency for the department.  Compensation includes a comprehensive benefit package.

  • Maintain all employee records within the HRIS system including, but not limited to employee records (start dates, termination dates, job records, benefits, processing student employment, unemployment and employment verifications and general office processes).  
  • Work with the Dean of the Faculty Office regarding the hiring of faculty on campus. Oversee, review and process all faculty hires.
  • Initiate, process, and complete position requests, payroll authorization forms and appointment letters for all current staff changes.
  • Work closely with various departments to resolve payroll and system issues.
  • Audit payroll reports bi-weekly to ensure that data has been entered correctly and provide resolution. 
  • Create and prepare personnel reports, gather data, create letters and spreadsheets for various needs such as IPEDS, CUPA, annual salary increases, surveys, adhoc reports for various departments on campus
  • Maintain all information presented in the College’s on-line directory to ensure that data is correct, and make changes as needed or requested on a timely basis.
  • Support system upgrades by creating testing plans, conducting those plans, and advising HR staff of changes that affect department processes.
  • Support the student employment process by working with Finance, Student Financial Aid and Academic Departments.  
  • Responsible for coordinating, managing and completing the CT minimum wage increases within the system as required by CT DOL.
  • Maintain HR processes on shared drive with relevant and up to date directions on how to complete them

Bachelor Degree required with 2 - 3 years related experience.  Strong analytical, processing and written/ verbal communication skills.  Must have excellent attention to detail, problem solving and organizational skills required.  Ability to interact well with a variety of people from all aspects of the college and community is essential.  Proficient in Microsoft Office and databases is preferred along with experience working in an Enterprise System Environment.  High integrity needed to handle confidential information.
