Connecticut College is conducting a regional search for a Campus Safety Officer.  Under direct supervision, the Campus Safety Officer maintains security of persons and property at Connecticut College, using standard operating procedures as a guide for performing duties.  The Safety Officer will perform routine security and safety patrol duties, must remain alert to emergency situations and provides first-line response, emergency management, and/or referral if required while upholding institutional rules and regulations. The position will be scheduled to work second shift, 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. and is benefits eligible. 

The Campus Safety Officer must maintain a high level of professionalism, enforce all College rules and regulations, respond appropriately to emergency calls, conduct thorough preliminary investigations, assess situations, and assist or obtain necessary support services for those on the Collcge campus.  The Safety Officer will be responsible for preparing detailed reports of all investigations, complaints and services performed, verify security of all college buildings and property, transport sick or injured students to the College Student Health Services, recognize and report all unsafe conditions, identify and remove any unauthorized person or vehicles from college property, inspect and maintain patrol car and emergency equipment, issue tickets for parking and moving violations. May be asked to act as Shift supervisor as needed or necessary and will be considered essential personnel when the Campus has emergency closures.  

 

 

 

High School Diploma and a minimum of 2 years related work experience, a valid CT Driver's License and no prior criminal record required.  Must be courteous and polite in all interaction with the community and perform all duties impartially, have excellent oral and interpersonal skills, able to write clear and concise reports, and high integrity needed to handle confidential information.  Able to pass physical exam, knowledge test and psychological profile. Must be committed to working with a diverse environment and interacting collegially with individuals of different backgrounds. Connecticut College requires employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
