Connecticut College is conducting a regional search for a On Call Cook to work in our Dining Services Department.  The College is looking to hire multiple candidates who are interested in working a flexible schedule; positions available include day, evenings and weekends.  Position pays $18.00/hour.  Hours will vary and will be on an as needed basis.

The On Call Cook will assist in daily food production and preparation of menu items; cook to order for individual customers working on several different orders simultaneously.  Must be able to handle high volumes of customers during peak times and use proper sanitation practices when handling food including labeling left-overs and stock rotation by FIFO standards; prepare batch cooking with mindfulness of food production quantities to reduce waste and use of food surpluses; clean work area and equipment; use proper inventory controls as they relate to FoodPro including completing service records.  The On Call Cook will also maintain department standards for food preparation, presentation, sanitation and safety and operate all equipment according to OSHA standards as well as perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.

High School Diploma and 2-3 years of cooking experience required, formal post high school training in the culinary arts preferred.  Candidate must have knowledge of FIFO and OSHA standards.  Must also have the ability to read and interpret menu/recipe abbreviations, lift 50 pounds and posses enough stamina to handle high volume work. Ability to interact well with a variety of people from all aspects of the college and community and the ability to foster a cooperative work environment and demonstrate positive leadership characteristics.  Must be well-organized, able to work under pressure, and be able to plan and accomplish goals

Thorough applicant credentialing, including criminal records check and pre-placement physical, will be conducted on the selected applicant.

 

Connecticut College requires employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
