Connecticut College is conducting a regional search for an Electrician to perform a variety of electrical work in the maintenance and repair of College facilities and equipment.  This position will remain open until filled.  This position has an excellent benefits package available.

The Electrician will install, connect, test and maintain electrical systems for a variety of purposes including climate control, security and communications; using blueprints to locate circuits, outlets, load centers, panel board and other equipment; insure all work complies with the National Electric Code and with State and local building codes; place conduit inside walls or other concealed areas, install/repair electrical switches and outlets and pull insulated wires as required; repair/replace breakers and circuit breakers; performs preventative maintenance and work orders duties assigned.  The Electrician will also assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures; estimate cost of labor and materials for work orders; operate a variety of equipment, machines and various hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work; maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean and proper working condition; respond to emergencies and function as a member of the physical plant callback team; maintain various records related to electrical work, labor, materials and work orders; maintain inventory materials needed to complete job; confer with members of the College community to resolve problems and operate a service vehicle as required to perform duties.

 

High School diploma and a combination of education, experience and a demonstrated knowledge of skilled electrical work required. Must posses and maintain a valid driver’s license and tools necessary to perform electrician functions; must maintain at least an E2 license; ability to effectively and safely operate a variety of tools and equipment necessary to carry out assignments and ommunicate effectively and to keep written records.  Must have the ability to read blueprints, and estimate labor and material costs.  Able to work independently with little direction, well-organized, able to work under pressure, ability to interact well with a variety of people from all aspects of the college and community and have high integrity needed to handle confidential information required.

Thorough applicant credentialing, including criminal records check and pre-placement physical, will be conducted on the selected candidate.

Connecticut College requires employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Individuals who have a medical condition or sincerely held religious beliefs that prevent them from getting the vaccine may confidentially request an exemption through the office of Human Resources.
