Connecticut College is conducting a regional search for Coaching Intern Squash.   Under limited supervision and direction, the Coaching Intern is responsible for supporting the Head Coach in all aspects of the men’s and women’s squash program at Connecticut College. The Coaching Intern Squash has responsibility in such critical areas as coaching student athletes, recruitment, compliance with NCAA and NESCAC rules and regulations and internal policies and procedures, while ensuring that the overall integrity and image of the program meets the College’s high level of excellence.  The Coaching Intern will also be required to perform other reasonable job-related duties as assigned.  While the Coaching Intern hours will vary week to week, on average this position will be scheduled to work up to 20 hours/week not to exceed 998 hours during the academic year.  Compensation in addition to pay includes a limited College meal plan, and the opportunity to enroll in up to three courses at Connecticut College per semester at no charge if accepted as a Special Day Student.   This is a term appointment ending June 30, 2023, with possibility of renewal.

The Coaching Intern Squash will be responsible to teach the fundamentals of the sport during meetings, practices and games; devise and implement athletic strategies for the team; cultivate and support the academic development of student-athletes by monitoring the academic progress and status of team members and implementing action plans when appropriate; identify, evaluate and recruit prospective student-athletes; ensure the safety of all student-athletes by scheduling practice sessions in compliance with applicable rules and regulations and monitor and maintain the discipline and conduct of student athletes to support the image and reputation of the Athletics Department, Program and College.  In addition, the Coaching Intern will ensure adherence to all NCAA, NESCAC, and College rules by athletes; must be available to work evenings and weekends and may drive the College van/transport when necessary.

 

 

Bachelor’s Degree and have demonstrated effective squash coaching experience required; competitive collegiate playing experience preferred.  Candidate must have strong organizational, interpersonal, oral communication, written, and computer skills; and have a commitment to the student-athlete, passion for the sport, and the ability to coach and motivate.

Connecticut College requires employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
