Connecticut College is conducting a regional search for a highly skilled Custodian/Equipment Maintenance Worker to work in the College's Facilities Management Department. The selected candidate will perform equipment maintenance, repairs, issuing inventory, and custodial maintenance duties including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms. Connecticut College requires employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. This includes the booster vaccine. New employees must present their COVID-19 vaccination record to Human Resources prior to the first day of employment. Individuals who have a medical condition or sincerely held religious beliefs that prevent them from getting the vaccine may confidentially request an exemption through the office of Human Resources.  This position is full time, Monday through Friday, 1st Shift (6:00 am - 2:30 pm), and is benefits eligible.  

The Custodian/Equipment Maintenance Manager will be responsible for inventory, ordering supplies and coordinating the use of and repair/maintain custodial equipment; safely operating, repairing and maintaining a variety of tools and equipment assigned including buffers, carpet shampooer and various types of vacuums. The incumbent will adhere to all OSHA, EPA and other federal, state and local safety/health requirements when conducting repairs and maintenance; determine type of chemicals and equipment necessary for specific cleaning tasks; ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment/supplies and promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Additional duties include cleaning restrooms, restock paper and soap supplies, empty trash receptacles and bag trash for proper disposal, set up rooms for various functions using a work order for direction, dust, sweep, mop and vacuum and strip and wax floors, stairways and corridors. Must be able to operate service vehicles as required to perform duties and assist with snow and other debris removal activities. Other duties as assigned or as necessary. 

High School Diploma with demonstrated knowledge of equipment repair and custodial duties, required. Knowledge of basic math, principles of electricity, methods used in the maintenance/repair of equipment, OSHA and EPA regulations as they apply to duties described. Must have computer skills with knowledge of Word and Excel software systems; ability to communicate effectively and work independently with little direction; well organized, ability to work under pressure and interact with a variety of people from all aspects of the college and community. Must have valid driver's license. 

Thorough applicant credentialing, including criminal records check will be conducted on the selected candidate.
