Connecticut College is conducting a regional search for a professional Cook who has a passion for scratch cooking, quality ingredients and exemplary service.  While we cook thousands of meals daily, we are committed to cooking in small batches using such equipment as Wok Systems, Saute Stations and a custom 850 degree Italian Brick Oven.  This position is benefits eligible. 

The Cook will assist in daily food production and preparation of daily menu items while following menus and recipes accurately; supply steam table with food during serving time; work at interactive stations, responsible for taking & executing multiple food orders from customers simultaneously and efficiently; use proper sanitation practices when handling food including labeling left-overs and stock rotation by FIFO standards; prepare batch cooking with mindfulness of food production quantities to reduce waste and use of food surpluses; use proper inventory controls as they relate to FoodPro including completing service records; receive and put away stock/supplies; must maintain personal hygiene and appearance, daily wearing of uniforms and maintain department standards for food preparation, presentation, sanitation and safety.

High School diploma or GED and 2 to 3 years of cooking experience required; formal post high school training in the culinary arts preferred; ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time; ability to read, interpret menu and recipes and prepare food items as directed; ability to interact well with a variety of people from all aspects of the college and community and to foster a cooperative work environment and demonstrate positive leadership characteristics; excellent attention to detail; well-organized, able to work under pressure, plan and accomplish goals; ability to operate all kitchen/cooking equipment according to OSHA standards.  Must have own knives, (French, serrated knife & a paring knife).

Thorough applicant credentialing, including criminal records check, pre-placement physical and on campus COVID testing, will be conducted on the selected candidate.
